You are not hiring a portfolio. You are hiring the person who will answer your emails.

Eight years. Three of them running a design function from the inside, which is the part most designers have never done.

Abdul Basit, Brand & Web Designer

I started in graphic design: logos, social and advertising creatives, pitch decks, print, presentations. Over time I became less interested in individual pieces and more interested in how design works as a complete system inside a business.

That shift happened in-house. For nearly three years as Manager, Design Operations at Health Aid College I built and ran the design function: identity, the WordPress site, print and digital communication, standardised workflows, internal tooling, and the documented process behind all of it.

After that I spent six months with BC Digital in Australia, leading a full brand and website rebrand and the reusable template system underneath it, then a contract at NASTP on institutional branding and large-format environmental graphics. Alongside all of it, client work since 2018, covering brand systems, packaging and websites for clients in North America, Australia and Asia.

Right now I am bringing AI and automation into the practice as tooling.

That is where design stopped being a deliverable and became an operation.

Experience

In-house, contract, client and own practice are kept separate, because the difference matters to anyone deciding whether to hire me.

  1. Designer Contract

NASTP (National Aerospace Science & Technology Park)

Logos and visual assets for institutional initiatives, unifying branding across internal teams. Large-format environmental wall graphics, with AI image generation used to speed production.

    Feb 2026 – Jul 2026

  2. Brand & Web Designer Remote

    BC Digital, Australia

Led a full brand and website rebrand: identity, a reusable template system and a responsive WordPress site, plus sales decks, VSL visuals and ad creatives for launch.

  3. Manager, Design Operations In-house

    Oct 2022 – Jul 2025

  4. Brand Designer Client

    Prime Sports Academy

A complete brand system (logo, palette, typography, guidelines), plus a responsive WordPress site and campaign branding for the Player Development Program launch.

  1. Land and Wave

“We hired Abdul to effectively rebuild a website using for Elementor Pro. It was a very large project that ran over several months. Abdul was effective and offered good value. Communication was consistent and reliable. Use Abdul Basit with confidence.”

    Owen S.
  2. Nextage

“Awesome work. He took a hand drawing and turned it into a graphic, exactly like I wanted. I had asked a local print shop to have their graphic artist to make the graphic and was disappointed that they were not able to do what I wanted done. At first I just wanted a second opinion from this artist because he has done work for me in the past. Besides, maybe I was asking for the impossible. Ab-creativegfx said he could do it and he did.”

    Tamiam
  3. Siftly+

“Designer was able to do (better & faster) then what another top rated PPT "specialists" wasn't able to get done. He worked tirelessly to meet an nearly impossible deadline.”

    Frank Striefler
  4. Business Owner

“He is fantastic and beyond exponentially talented. He is great to work with and very flexible. He listens and delivers on what you hired him for instead trying to change your ideas. The work he has done for us as a team is priceless. The quality of the work is priceless. The attention to detail by itself is amazing. He took every recommendation and ideas we gave him seriously and Wow the entire team. We were pleased, delighted, hyper happy and beyond explanation. We will absolutely come back for more. That’s inevitable. Thank You Basit.”

    Cherif Dean B.
  5. Product Design

“He did a very good job & worked hard to make my requirements as it is not a regular product. He made all the necessary adjustments I requested in trying different things & I am very happy with the overall results.”

    Funmilayo A.
  6. CapitalM

“I really like working with this seller! He has great communication skills, Amazing talent and does perfect work!!!!!!!!!!”

    Chani Frankel

How I work

Five stages. You know what is happening, what is due from you, and what it costs before anything starts.

  1. Understand

What the business actually does, who it sells to, and what is currently getting in the way. No brief survives a conversation that never happened.

  2. Direct

One written direction, not three moodboards to choose between. You approve a point of view before anyone draws anything.

  3. Design

Identity first, then the surfaces it has to live on. Shown in context, on a screen, a sign or a package, and never as a logo floating on white.

  4. Systemise

Rules, components and templates written for the people who will use them daily. This is the difference between a brand and a folder of files.

  5. Hand over

Every file, organised and named. A walkthrough. And a site you can update yourself without breaking the design.

Tools

Figma, Adobe CC and Affinity for design. Astro and hand-written CSS for the web, and WordPress with Elementor where a client needs to manage the site themselves. AI-assisted tooling where it removes repetition, never where it replaces judgement.

Direction

Deeper into design systems and into automation of the operational half of design work, the part that quietly eats a studio's time.

Questions

The objections, in the order people actually have them.

What does this cost?

It depends on how much of the sequence you need. A logotype with a short set of rules is a different job to an identity with packaging, a website and documentation. You get a written proposal with the scope, the price and the schedule in it before anything starts, so you are never making the decision halfway through.

How long does it take?

A focused identity runs three to five weeks. Identity plus website, six to ten. The schedule is written into the proposal stage by stage, so you always know what is happening and what is due from you.

Why one person instead of an agency?

You brief me and you hear back from me, and the person designing it is the person you spoke to. There is no account manager in between, and nothing is handed to someone junior. In return I take fewer projects at once, so the schedule is agreed before anything starts and it does not move.

Do you work with clients outside Pakistan?

Most of the work is international. I am on GMT+5, which shares most of the working day with the Gulf and puts my afternoon in the UK and European morning. Scope, schedule and decisions are all written down, which is what actually makes distance a non-issue.

Can you work with the brand I already have?

Yes. A lot of projects start as "the brand is fine, the website is letting it down", or the reverse. I will tell you which of the two is the real problem before you pay me to fix the wrong one.

Will I be able to update the site myself?

Yes. The content lives in plain text, separate from the design, so changing the words cannot break the layout. You get a walkthrough at handover.
