Privacy Policy

This website, designbyab.com, is operated by Abdul Basit, trading as Design by AB (“the studio”, “I”, “me”). This page explains what personal data the site collects, why it is collected, how long it is kept and what you can ask me to do with it.
The short version
I collect the information you type into the contact form, and nothing else that identifies you. There is no advertising network on this site, no tracking pixel, no analytics account and no data is sold to anyone.
What is collected, and why
Contact form submissions
When you send an enquiry through the contact form, the form collects your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message field. It is stored in this website’s database and a copy is emailed to me. The lawful basis is legitimate interest — you asked me to get in touch, so I need a way to reply.
Enquiries are kept for as long as there is an active conversation, and for up to 24 months afterwards in case the project comes back. You can ask for an enquiry to be deleted sooner at any time.
Server logs
The hosting provider records standard web server logs, which include IP addresses, request times, requested URLs and browser user-agent strings. These are generated automatically by the server, are used only for security and troubleshooting, and are retained according to the host’s own schedule. I do not analyse them or link them to individuals.
Cookies
This site sets no marketing or analytics cookies. A caching cookie may be set by the site’s performance plugin, and WordPress sets session cookies if you log in to the admin area — which, unless you work with me on the site itself, you will not. Because there is no tracking, there is no consent banner to click through.
Fonts
Some typefaces on this site are served from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font file, Google receives your IP address and the page you requested it from. If you would prefer that not to happen, a content blocker will stop the request and the site will fall back to a system typeface without breaking.
Who your data is shared with
Only with the services the site needs to function:
- The web host, which stores the database and sends outgoing form email.
- Google Fonts, as described above, for font delivery only.
Nothing is sold, rented or passed to advertisers. If a legal authority makes a valid, binding request for data, I will comply with it.
International transfers
The services above may process data on servers outside your own country. Where that happens, the provider’s own standard contractual protections apply.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the data held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how it is being processed, or to have it sent to you in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email hello@designbyab.com. I will respond within 30 days. If you live in the UK or EU and you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, the software is kept up to date, and administrative access is limited to accounts that need it. No website can promise perfect security, but form data is not exposed publicly at any point.
Children
This is a business-to-business design studio site. It is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If what the site collects changes — for example if analytics are added later — this page will be updated and the date at the top changed. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly edited in.
